Spectators at Saturday's non-league battle between the Orange Lutheran Lancers (Orange, CA) and the host Palm Desert Aztecs (Palm Desert, CA), saw Orange Lutheran's baseball squad beat Palm Desert by a margin of 5-3.

Next, the Aztecs confront the Esperanza Aztecs (Anaheim, CA) in a non-league outing, on Monday, March 7. Palm Desert will attempt to advance on its 1-1 season record. The Aztecs go into the outing with a 1-1 record after their 7-5 non-league win over Bishop Amat (La Puente, CA).

Behind by four in the fifth, Palm Desert can't finish comeback Shadow Hills High -- Palm Desert wasn't able to surmount the big hole the Aztecs dug themselves into against Orange Lutheran, and they lost 5-3 to the Lancers after falling behind by four runs in the fifth inning.

Palm Desert showed signs of life in the seventh inning, putting up two runs, both on solo Homeruns. In the bottom of the seventh, Trey Donofrio gave up a home run to both Ryan Garvey. and then the next batter Kaz Halcovich homered.

Orange Lutheran was unable to make good contact against Jonathan Servin. The Lancers managed one hit off of Servin, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one during his 2 1/3 innings of work relieving Halcovich. Halcovich got the hard luck loss after allowing just one earned while striking out 5 and only allowing 2 hits in 4 2/3.
