In Saturday's non-league game, the host Vacaville Bulldogs baseball team scored a nice 12-3 victory over the Paradise Bobcats.
The Bulldogs (2-0) will now prepare for their game against Hogan (Vallejo, CA). The Spartans go into the non-league game with a 1-0 record. In their last game, Hogan ran past St. Patrick/St. Vincent (Vallejo, CA), 5-3, in a non-league game.
The Bobcats (0-2) will now prepare for their game against Enterprise (Redding, CA). The Hornets go into the Eastern contest with a 1-0 record.






Vacaville High School's baseball team opened its 2009 season with not one but two wins Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader from visiting Paradise. The Bulldogs received strong starting pitching performances from both Keagan Hopkins and Nate Berumen, winning by counts of 6-1 and 12-3. Vacaville broke open a close first game with two runs in the fourth. Spencer Lukehart doubled in Jake Andres, and Hopkins aided his own cause with a double to score Lukehart. Berumen added a double and a run scored, and Cody Golden chipped in an RBI single. Hopkins struck out six batters in 5 2/3 innings. Luke Blanchard worked out of a jam in the sixth and finished up. Berumen added nine strikeouts over five innings in the second game, and also drove in two runs with a double and a single. Andres added three hits and three RBI, and Lukehart smashed a two-run homer. Golden added two hits and scored twice.
