The Burros come into the challenge with a record of 1-1. Burroughs lost 7-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Paraclete (Lancaster, CA)

Vasquez High School traveled to Quartz Hill and faced former Vasquez pitching star Brandan Murchanian. Murchanian pitched a complete game 2 hitters, 8 strikeouts, keeping the Vasquez line-up in check the entire game. Vasquez pitcher, Josh Gamboa, pitched well for his first outing of the year. He threw 5 innings, striking out 4 while giving up 6 hits and 3 earned runs. Coach Klein felt that Josh Gamboa gave us a chance for 5 innings to maybe get it going, but Murchanian was on his game from the start to finish facing only 22 batters.
