In Friday's non-league outing, the visiting Mt. Shasta Bears softball team scored a nice 13-1 win over the Willows Honkers.

The Honkers seemed ready to make a comeback in the back half of the twin bill with a 1-1 tie through the first 3 innings of play. Patricia Farrel kept the Mt. Shasta hitters off balance and only give up one run in the first three innings. They started timing her out in the fourth scoring 3 runs on a single, an error and 3 doubles to go ahead of the Honkers 4-1. In the 5th, Mt. Shasta added another run on 2 singles and 2 errors. But in the sixth, the wheels fell off for the Honkers, giving up 8 runs on 4 errors and 6 hits. Farrel took the loss on the mound going 5 1/3 inning, allowing only 5 earned runs. The Honkers only magaged 2 hits in the game a single and a triple by Nichole Thayer. The Mt. Shasta pitcher kept our hitters off balance the entire game with her change up. The Honkers have not faced a pitcher all year with such a great off speed pitch and it was difficult to adjust. The Lady Honkers will play in Wheatland in the first round of the play-offs, on Tuesday, May 15th @ 4pm.
