Sutter Huskies (Sutter, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Willows Honkers (Willows, CA), 14-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Huskies now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Quincy for a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 8.

With the loss, Willows falls to 4-3 on the campaign. The Honkers travel to Gridley (Gridley, CA) to face the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Monday, March 12. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 0-1.

The Junior Honkers kept it close through the first four innings and then gave up 5 hits and 3 errors for an 8 run fifth inning for the Huskies. The Honkers never recovered and fell to the Huskies 14-4 in a game that was called in the sixth due to the 10-run rule. Rylee Smith took the loss on the mound striking out 9 and giving up just one walk and 9 earned runs. Kassidy Millen led the offense going 2 for 3 with a triple and RBI. Kaylin Renfro was 2 for 3 with a double. Morgan Hughes, Christina Villareal, Lexie Tapia and Smith all singled for the Honkers.
