In Wednesday's league game, the host Cheshire Rams baseball team scored a tight 2-0 victory over the Sheehan Titans.

The Rams (7-8) will now prepare for their game against Lyman Hall (Wallingford, CT). The Trojans go into the Southern Connecticut - Housatonic contest with a 1-14 record.

The Titans now sport a 7-6 record. They play next when they host Law for a non-league contest on Friday, May 10. Sheehan will encounter a Lawmen squad coming off a 4-1 non-league win over St. Joseph (Trumbull, CT). The Lawmen record now stands at 7-9.

CHESHIRE — Ethan Lonardelli tossed a four-hit shutout to lead the Cheshire baseball team to a 2-0 win over SCC Housatonic rival Sheehan on Wednesday afternoon. The lefty (3-2) scattered four hits, struck out four and walked one. Sheehan hurler Brandon Rentas was also impressive. The sophomore allowed five hits and two walks while fanning two. The two runs he allowed were both unearned and they came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Wes Robertson and Tommy Savino reached on one-out singles, advanced on a ground out and scored on a two-out error. With the win, Cheshire improved to 7-8 overall and 2-5 in the Housy. “That gets us closer to the magic number of eight,” Cheshire coach Bill Mrowka said. “They are a solid team. It’s always good to get a win over them". The last couple of games, Lonardelli has been very good. He keeps hitters off balance.” Rentas and Nolan Cloutier each had two hits for the Titans (7-8 overall, 4-4 Housy). Cheshire’s Adam vonFischer had a double.
