Spectators at Wednesday's league battle between the Danbury Hatters (Danbury, CT) and the visiting Warde Mustangs (Fairfield, CT), saw Danbury's baseball squad beat Warde by a margin of 5-3.

Danbury scored three runs in the first two innings and held on to defeat Fairfield Warde 5-3. The Hatters opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a two-out single by catcher Mike Beers that plated Ian Ratchford, who had singled to open the inning. A Ratchford rbi triple and a single by Robbie Meerman added two more runs in the second. Danbury struck again in the fourth on back-to-back rbi doubles by starting pitcher Anthony Mannuccia and Donald Miller. Warde answered in the fifth on a two-out rbi double by Kyle Burns, followed by a run-scoring single from Ralph Fidaleo. Warde added a third run in the sixth on an rbi single by Eric Burns. With Danbury clinging to the two-run lead, the visitors started the seventh with singles from Kyle Burns and Fidaleo. The Hatters went to Jon Skidmore, who retired the next three batters on a strikeout and two flyouts to earn the save. Fidaleo recored a three-hit day for the Mustangs, as did Ratchford for the Hatters.
