Spectators at Thursday's league match between the Weston Trojans (Weston, CT) and the visiting Stratford Red Devils (Stratford, CT), witnessed Weston's softball squad tip Stratford by a count of 11-7.

Weston improved its record to 2-0 with a non-league 11-7 home win over Stratford. Weston broke a 7-7 tie with 3 runs in the 4th. Emily Abrams started the winning rally with her 3rd hit of the game. After a steal and a sacrifice bunt by Shelby Merberg, Stratford chose to walk Lucy Chestler, who already had 2 hits, 3 steals and 2 RBI in the game. Natalie Hassett followed with a 2 RBI triple, her 3rd hit of the game following a previous single and double. Hassett finished with 3 runs and 4 RBI on the day, giving her 9 RBI so far in Weston's 2 games. Weston added an insurance run in the 5th on an RBI by Abrams. Freshman Sam Hurwitz, pitching in her 1st career high school game, got the complete game win, striking out 10 while allowing 6 hits and only 3 earned runs. A couple of Weston errors accounted for 4 of Stratford's runs.
