California High School Soccer - Lincoln knocks off Golden Sierra
January 2, 2023: Garden Valley, CA 95633 Lincoln Fighting Zebras (Lincoln, CA) fans were thrilled Monday as they observed their soccer team triumph over the host Golden Sierra Grizzlies (Garden Valley, CA), 9-1 in a non-league challenge.
Next, the Fighting Zebras face the Nevada Union Miners (Grass Valley, CA) in a Foothill Valley League challenge, on Monday, January 9. Lincoln will attempt to better on its 4-3 season record. The Miners enter the challenge with a 1-6 record after their 2-0 non-league loss to Rio Linda (Rio Linda, CA).
The Grizzlies now have a 10-4 record. They take the field next when they host Woodland Christian for a Sierra Delta League challenge on Friday, January 6. Golden Sierra will face a Cardinals team coming off a 2-2 league Rio Vista (Rio Vista, CA). The Cardinals record now stands at 3-3.
Game Summary
Great First half. GS went down to 10 players in the second half as a Elise went out at the end of the first half with a concussion. For a short period went down to nine players. We could not stay with Lincoln's number 12 in the second half she scored some incredible goals.
