Hays Hawks (Buda, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Poth Pirates (Poth, TX), 56-45 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Hays upgrades its record to 11-12 on the season. The Hawks host Rouse (Leander, TX) to play the Raiders in a 5A Region IV District 25 bout on Friday, January 5. The Raiders go into the bout with a record of 15-7. Rouse lost 67-64 in their recent non-league bout against Keller (Keller, TX)

Next up, the Pirates play the Crystal City Javelinas (Crystal City, TX) in a non-league bout, on Friday, January 5. Poth will attempt to upgrade on its 9-4 season record. The Javelinas go into the bout with a 12-10 record after their 86-47 non-league loss to Cole (San Antonio, TX).
