George Washington Eagles (Danville, VA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Amherst County Lancers (Amherst, VA), 65-57 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, George Washington upgrades its record to 5-7 on the campaign. The Eagles host Magna Vista (Ridgeway, VA) to play the Warriors in a Piedmont bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Warriors come into the bout with a record of 3-8.

Next up, the Lancers play the Brookville Bees (Lynchburg, VA) in a Seminole bout, on Friday, January 5. Amherst County will attempt to upgrade on its 3-8 season record. The Bees come into the bout with a 2-8 record after their 51-22 non-league win over William Campbell (Naruna, VA).
