In Friday's non-league contest, the host Grantsville Cowboys basketball team scored a close 66-64 triumph over the Bear River Bears.

The Cowboys (8-5) will now prepare for their contest against Union (Roosevelt, UT). The Cougars go into the 3A Region 13 contest with a 8-5 record. In their last contest, Union was tipped by American Heritage (American Fork, UT), 91-74, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Bears confront the Mountain Crest Mustangs (Hyrum, UT) in a 4A Region 11 contest, on Wednesday, January 8. Bear River will attempt to better on its 4-8 season record. The Mustangs go into the contest with a 5-9 record after their 53-40 league loss to West Field (Taylor, UT).
