In Friday's non-league contest, the host Phoenix Pirates basketball team scored a good 73-54 triumph over the Cottage Grove Lions.

The Pirates (6-5) will now prepare for their contest against Hidden Valley (Grants Pass, OR). The Mustangs go into the 4A Skyline contest with a 8-4 record. In their last contest, Hidden Valley topped Ashland (Ashland, OR), 68-62, in a non-league contest.
