In Friday's non-league contest, the host Desert Vista Thunder basketball team scored a close 73-70 win over the Hillgrove Hawks.

The Thunder (6-5) will now prepare for their contest against Wilson (Florence, SC). The Tigers come into the non-league contest with a 10-1 record. In their last contest, Wilson edged A.C. Flora (Columbia, SC), 63-57, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Hawks battle the Rolesville Rams (Rolesville, NC) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, January 4. Hillgrove will attempt to better on its 8-6 season record. The Rams come into the contest with a 6-5 record after their 62-60 non-league loss to Cannon (Concord, NC).
