January 3, 2025: Ripley, MS 38663 Walnut Wildcats (Walnut, MS) supporters left the game satisfied Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad notch a victory over the host Pine Grove Panthers (Ripley, MS), 55-36 in a non-league match.
With the victory, Walnut advances its record to 15-1 on the year. The Wildcats travel to Brilliant (Brilliant, AL) to face the Tigers in a non-league match on Saturday, January 4. The Tigers enter the match with a record of 11-4. Brilliant won 61-50 in their recent non-league match against Carbon Hill (Carbon Hill, AL)
The Panthers now own a 8-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Myrtle for a 1A Region 2 match on Tuesday, January 7. Pine Grove will face a Hawks squad coming off a 44-33 league win over Byers (Holly Springs, MS). The Hawks record now stands at 8-9.
