Virginia High School Basketball - Phoebus can't hold off Indian River
January 3, 2026: Chesapeake, VA 23325 Indian River Braves (Chesapeake, VA) backers went home thrilled Saturday as they saw their basketball team tip the visiting Phoebus Phantoms (Hampton, VA), 84-79 in a non-league contest.
The Braves (7-1) will now prepare for their contest against Norcom (Portsmouth, VA). The Greyhounds go into the non-league contest with a 2-8 record. In their last contest, Norcom was nudged by Peninsula Catholic (Newport News, VA), 58-55, in a non-league match.
The Phantoms now sport a 2-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Heritage for a Peninsula match on Tuesday, January 6. Phoebus will face a Hurricanes squad coming off a 62-51 non-league loss to Henrico (Richmond, VA). The Hurricanes record now stands at 2-6.
