North Carolina High School Basketball - Mitchell tops Ashe County
January 4, 2022: Bakersville, NC 28705 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) and the visiting Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC), saw Mitchell's basketball squad knock off Ashe County by a count of 43-24.
With the victory, Mitchell upgrades its record to 5-0 on the campaign. The Mountaineers host Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC) to play the Cougars in a challenge on Friday, January 7. The Cougars come into the challenge with a record of 1-2. Mountain Heritage won 48-34 in their recent league challenge against Avery County (Newland, NC)
Next up, the Huskies play the Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) in a challenge, on Tuesday, January 11. Ashe County will attempt to upgrade on its 5-7 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 6-4 record after their 46-26 non-league win over West Wilkes (Millers Creek, NC).
