The Helix Highlanders basketball team (La Mesa, CA), was nudged 56-52 in Thursday's non-league battle with the visiting Mt. Carmel Sundevils (San Diego, CA)

The Sundevils now sport a 7-9 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Escondido for a Valley battle on Wednesday, January 10.

The Highlanders (6-12) will now prepare for their battle against El Capitan (Lakeside, CA). The Vaqueros come into the non-league battle with a 13-4 record. In their last battle, El Capitan edged Valley Center (Valley Center, CA), 47-45, in a non-league battle.
