South Carolina High School Basketball - Bob Jones Academy edges Asheville Trailblazers
January 5, 2024: Greenville, SC 29614 The Bob Jones Academy (Greenville, SC) basketball nipped the visiting Asheville Trailblazers Trailblazers (Asheville, NC), 31-29 in Friday's league test.
The (1-1) will now prepare for their contest against Greenville Hurricanes (Greenville, SC). The Hurricanes enter the non-league contest with a 15-2 record. In their last contest, Greenville Hurricanes nudged Carolina Academy (Greenville, SC), 39-25, in a non-league contest.
The Trailblazers (8-6) will now prepare for their contest against KACHEA (Kingsport, TN). The Wildcats enter the non-league contest with a 0-0 record.
First Quarter
The Trailblazers showed signed of their 3 week Christmas break from games. The Trailblazers started out slow and flat, but protected the ball well from turnovers. Still the Trailblazers scored their lowest score this season in a quarter with only 4 points putting them behind 5 headed into the 2nd Quarter.
Second Quarter
The Trailblazers started to get their legs back under them speeding up the pace of the game and locking into a strong 2-3 defense. The Trailblazers went into the half down 16-10, still posting their lowest scoring half of the season.
Third Quarter
The Trailblazers returned from the halftime locker room with life and energy. Led by the Player of the Game Ashtin Marlow taking over the role of PG. The Trailblazers dropped 15 points in the 3rd and bringing the score to a tie game at 25-25.
Fourth Quarter
The 4th quarter was a defensive battle for both teams. Not a lot of scoring was done in the 4th and the game ended with a buzzer beating score by Bob Jones Academy. After a tough loss by the JV Trailblazers they will get focused on the next two games ahead.
