In Friday's league match, the host Montgomery Bears basketball team scored a tight 37-35 triumph over the Brenham Cubs.

In their next game, the Bears meet the Magnolia Bulldogs (Magnolia, TX) in a 5A Region III District 21 match, on Tuesday, January 10. Montgomery will attempt to move on its 9-12 season record.
