California High School Basketball - Hercules nipped by College Park
January 6, 2023: Hercules, CA 94547 The College Park Falcons tipped the host Hercules Titans basketball team by a final score of 47-40 in Friday's non-league game.
In their next game, the Falcons face the Acalanes Dons (Lafayette, CA) in a game, on Monday, January 9. College Park will attempt to move on its 8-4 season record. The Dons enter the game with a 9-4 record after their 52-28 non-league win over Justin-Siena (Napa, CA).
With the defeat, Hercules moves to 6-3 on the year. The Titans host Albany (Albany, CA) to face the Cougars in a game on Tuesday, January 10. The Cougars enter the game with a record of 0-1. Albany lost 52-48 in their recent non-league game against Dublin (Dublin, CA)
First Quarter
Despite a slow start every starter scored a bucket to give the visiting Falcons a 2 point advantage at the end of 1.
Second Quarter
Hercules Point Guard dominated the quarter with 9 points ang going a perfect 5/5 from the line in the quarter. Despite a great effort from Falcon's guard Isaiah Akpan and Center Mitchell Smith who combined 12 pont in the quarter, College Park was unable to get any other scoring as they played their 2nd consecutive game with out all-league point guard Marcos O'connell.
Third Quarter
Freshman Forwards Ryan Ranganian and Noah DiVita controlled the paint but were unable to put up buckets as they played Hercules to 9-9 tie in the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Center Mitchell Smith who came off the bench today for the Falcons put on his work boots and scored 9 of his 20pts in the 4th to bring the victory home for the undermanned Falcons who enjoyed another non-league road victory.
