Virginia High School Basketball - Maury thwarts Greensville County
January 7, 2023: Norfolk, VA 23517 The Maury Commodores (Norfolk, VA) basketball knocked off the visiting Greensville County Eagles (Emporia, VA), 38-30 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Commodores (8-1) will now prepare for their test against King's Fork (Suffolk, VA). The Bulldogs go into the non-league test with a 7-3 record. In their last test, King's Fork notched a victory over Lakeland (Suffolk, VA), 77-44, in a league test.
The Eagles now own a 5-4 record. They play next when they host Surry County for a Tri-Rivers test on Monday, January 9. Greensville County will encounter a Cougars squad coming off a 55-41 league loss to Sussex Central (Sussex, VA). The Cougars record now stands at 3-8.
