January 7, 2025: Cottage Grove, OR 97424 Cottage Grove Lions (Cottage Grove, OR) supporters left the game satisfied Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad notch a victory over the visiting Newport Cubs (Newport, OR), 52-39 in a non-league match.
With the victory, Cottage Grove advances its record to 7-5 on the year. The Lions host Marist (Eugene, OR) to face the Spartans in a 4A Sky Em match on Friday, January 10. The Spartans enter the match with a record of 7-3. Marist won 53-33 in their recent league match against North Bend (North Bend, OR)
The Cubs now own a 2-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Estacada for a non-league match on Friday, January 10. Newport will face a Rangers squad coming off a 59-19 non-league loss to North Marion (Aurora, OR). The Rangers record now stands at 4-7.
