Mathews Mustangs (Vienna, OH) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Chalker Wildcats (Southington, OH), 60-43 in a league bout.

With the win, Mathews upgrades its record to 1-0 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Cardinal (Middlefield, OH) to play the Huskies in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 9. The Huskies go into the bout with a record of 2-7. Cardinal won 75-50 in their recent non-league bout against Brooklyn (Brooklyn, OH)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Badger Braves (Kinsman, OH) in a Northeastern bout, on Saturday, January 9. Chalker will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record. The Braves go into the bout with a 1-1 record after their 64-47 league loss to Pymatuning Valley (Andover, OH).
