Murphy Bulldogs (Murphy, NC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Nantahala Hawks (Topton, NC), 79-25 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Murphy upgrades its record to 1-1 on the season. The Bulldogs host Hayesville (Hayesville, NC) to clash with the Yellowjackets in a Big Smoky Mountain 1A bout on Monday, January 11. The Yellowjackets go into the bout with a record of 2-0. Hayesville won 60-56 in their recent league bout against Robbinsville (Robbinsville, NC)

Next up, the Hawks clash with the Blue Ridge Early College Bobcats (Cashiers, NC) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 13. Nantahala will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record. The Bobcats go into the bout with a 1-0 record after their 37-34 non-league win over Highlands (Highlands, NC).
