New York High School Basketball - Newburgh Free Academy topped by Canarsie
January 8, 2023: Brooklyn, NY 11236 The Canarsie Chiefs basketball team scored 52 points and restricted the visiting Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks to 42 in the Chiefs non-league victory on Sunday.
The Chiefs now sport a 6-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Brooklyn Collegiate for a PSAL Brooklyn AA contest on Monday, January 9. Canarsie will battle a team coming off a 79-42 non-league win over Knox (St. James, NY). The record now stands at 9-3.
The Goldbacks (3-4) will now prepare for their contest against Monroe-Woodbury (Central Valley, NY). The Crusaders come into the Section 9 Orange County I contest with a 6-2 record. In their last contest, Monroe-Woodbury prevailed over Washingtonville (Washingtonville, NY), 57-47, in a non-league contest.
