January 8, 2025: Sterling, IL 61081 Newman Central Catholic Comets (Sterling, IL) supporters left the game satisfied Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad notch a victory over the visiting Alleman Pioneers (Rock Island, IL), 67-47 in a non-league match.
With the victory, Newman Central Catholic advances its record to 9-9 on the year. The Comets host Kewanee (Kewanee, IL) to face the Boilermakers in a Three Rivers - East match on Friday, January 10. The Boilermakers enter the match with a record of 9-8. Kewanee lost 60-21 in their recent league match against Princeton (Princeton, IL)
The Pioneers now own a 2-13 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Quincy for a Western Big 6 match on Friday, January 10. Alleman will face a Blue Devils squad coming off a 59-56 non-league loss to Vashon (St. Louis, MO). The Blue Devils record now stands at 13-1.
