The Porter Ridge Pirates basketball squad (Indian Trail, NC), was outscored 70-57 in Wednesday's non-league battle with the host Monroe Redhawks (Monroe, NC)

With the victory, Monroe advances its record to 3-0 on the year. The Redhawks host Anson (Wadesboro, NC) to meet the Bearcats in a 2A/3A Rocky River battle on Thursday, January 16. The Bearcats enter the battle with a record of 11-4. Anson won 78-68 in their recent league battle against West Stanly (Oakboro, NC)

The Pirates now own a 3-13 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Cuthbertson for a 4A Southern Carolina battle on Friday, January 17. Porter Ridge will meet a Cavaliers squad coming off a 55-36 league win over Sun Valley (Monroe, NC). The Cavaliers record now stands at 9-4.
