In Wednesday's league contest, the visiting St. Paul Swordsmen basketball team scored a close 55-48 win over the Serra Cavaliers.

The Swordsmen (11-8) will now prepare for their challenge against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy (Downey, CA). The Warriors come into the Del Rey challenge with a 10-6 record. In their last challenge, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy edged Ironwood (Glendale, AZ), 61-40, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Cavaliers battle the St. Anthony Saints (Long Beach, CA) in a Del Rey challenge, on Friday, January 10. Serra will attempt to improve on its 10-7 season record. The Saints come into the challenge with a 9-6 record after their 67-59 league loss to St. Bernard (Playa del Rey, CA).
