January 9, 2024: Brownwood, TX 76801 The Jayton Jaybirds (Jayton, TX) basketball knocked off the host Brownwood Lions (Brownwood, TX), 74-61 in Tuesday's non-league test.
The Jaybirds (20-3) will now prepare for their test against Guthrie (Guthrie, TX). The Jaguars go into the 1A Region I District 5 test with a 2-8 record.
The Lions now own a 10-16 record. They play next when they travel to Graham for a 4A Region I District 6 test on Friday, January 12. Brownwood will encounter a Steers squad coming off a 54-48 non-league loss to Gainesville (Gainesville, TX). The Steers record now stands at 13-12.
