North Carolina High School Basketball - Alexander Central nips Watauga

January 10, 2023: Taylorsville, NC 28681

Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC), 42-37 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Alexander Central upgrades its record to 9-2 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to South Caldwell (Hudson, NC) to play the Spartans in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 12. The Spartans come into the bout with a record of 6-3. South Caldwell lost 70-37 in their recent non-league bout against Freedom (Morganton, NC)

Next up, the Pioneers play the Hibriten Panthers (Lenoir, NC) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, January 12. Watauga will attempt to upgrade on its 9-5 season record. The Panthers come into the bout with a 7-5 record after their 60-48 non-league win over Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC).
