Maine High School Basketball - Waynflete holds off Lake Region
January 11, 2024: Naples, ME 04055 Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Waynflete Flyers (Portland, ME) and the host Lake Region Lakers (Naples, ME), saw Waynflete's basketball squad hold off Lake Region by a tally of 71-69.
With the victory, Waynflete improves its record to 7-2 on the campaign. The Flyers travel to St. Dominic (Lewiston, ME) to confront the Saints in a non-league challenge on Monday, January 15. The Saints come into the challenge with a record of 8-0. St. Dominic won 61-40 in their recent non-league challenge against Old Orchard Beach (Old Orchard Beach, ME)
Next up, the Lakers confront the Poland Knights (Poland, ME) in a B South challenge, on Saturday, January 13. Lake Region will attempt to improve on its 3-7 season record. The Knights come into the challenge with a 1-7 record after their 84-76 league loss to Cape Elizabeth (Cape Elizabeth, ME).
