The Walnut Ridge Bobcats (Walnut Ridge, AR) basketball nipped the host Newport Greyhounds (Newport, AR), 38-37 in Friday's league test.

The Bobcats (7-10) will now prepare for their test against Tuckerman (Tuckerman, AR). The Bulldogs go into the 3A Region 2 test with a 10-13 record.

The Greyhounds now own a 3-16 record. They play next when they travel to Hoxie for a 3A Region 2 test on Tuesday, January 16. Newport will encounter a Mustangs squad coming off a 84-25 league loss to Salem (Salem, AR). The Mustangs record now stands at 0-14.
