The East Carteret Mariners basketball team scored 73 points and held the host Jones Trojans to 49 in the Mariners league triumph on Friday.

The Mariners now sport a 9-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Wake Forest for a non-league contest on Monday, January 16. East Carteret will battle a Cougars team coming off a 60-48 league win over Heritage (Wake Forest, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 10-6.

The Trojans (7-4) will now prepare for their contest against Pamlico County (Bayboro, NC). The Hurricanes enter the 1A/2A Conference 3 contest with a 6-10 record. In their last contest, Pamlico County triumphed over Lejeune (Camp Lejeune, NC), 69-52, in a league contest.
