Varela Vipers (Miami, FL) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Somerset Academy South Homestead Hurricanes (Homestead, FL), 25-23 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Varela upgrades its record to 3-8 on the season. The Vipers travel to Reagan (Doral, FL) to clash with the Bison in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 18. The Bison go into the bout with a record of 2-1. Reagan lost 50-48 in their recent non-league bout against Doral Academy (Doral, FL)

Next up, the Hurricanes clash with the Sunset Knights (Miami, FL) in a non-league bout, on Friday, January 20. Somerset Academy South Homestead will attempt to upgrade on its 5-4 season record.
