North Carolina High School Basketball - East Columbus nips Purnell Swett

January 13, 2024: Pembroke, NC 28372

East Columbus Gators (Lake Waccamaw, NC) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Purnell Swett Rams (Pembroke, NC), 55-53 in a non-league bout.

With the win, East Columbus upgrades its record to 4-8 on the season. The Gators travel to Heide Trask (Rocky Point, NC) to play the Titans in a 1A/2A Waccamaw bout on Friday, January 19. The Titans go into the bout with a record of 9-4. Heide Trask won 66-47 in their recent league bout against East Bladen (Elizabethtown, NC)

Next up, the Rams play the Seventy-First Falcons (Fayetteville, NC) in a 3A/4A United 8 bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Purnell Swett will attempt to upgrade on its 2-7 season record. The Falcons go into the bout with a 8-1 record after their 78-39 league win over Gray's Creek (Hope Mills, NC).
