Union Grove Lions (Gladewater, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Overton Mustangs (Overton, TX), 40-31 in a league bout.

With the victory, Union Grove upgrades its record to 16-10 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Beckville (Beckville, TX) to play the Bearcats in a 2A Region III District 21 bout on Tuesday, January 18. The Bearcats come into the bout with a record of 12-12. Beckville won 47-14 in their recent league bout against Carlisle (Price, TX)

Next up, the Mustangs play the Big Sandy Wildcats (Big Sandy, TX) in a 2A Region III District 21 bout, on Tuesday, January 18. Overton will attempt to upgrade on its 9-14 season record.
