January 15, 2024: Jonesboro, GA 30236 Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Athens Academy Spartans (Athens, GA) and the host Mt. Zion Bulldogs (Jonesboro, GA), saw Athens Academy's basketball squad overcome Mt. Zion by a tally of 70-60.
With the victory, Athens Academy improves its record to 13-4 on the campaign. The Spartans travel to East Jackson (Commerce, GA) to confront the Eagles in a AA Region 8 challenge on Wednesday, January 17. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 8-8. East Jackson lost 66-59 in their recent non-league challenge against Jasper County (Monticello, GA)
Next up, the Bulldogs confront the Luella Lions (Luella, GA) in a AAAA Region 5 challenge, on Tuesday, January 16. Mt. Zion will attempt to improve on its 4-13 season record. The Lions come into the challenge with a 7-10 record after their 65-51 non-league win over Northview (Johns Creek, GA).
