Illinois High School Basketball - Wheaton Academy can't hold off Coal City
January 18, 2025: Coal City, IL 60416 Coal City Coalers (Coal City, IL) supporters left the game happy Saturday as they saw their basketball team nip the visiting Wheaton Academy Warriors (West Chicago, IL), 58-56 in a non-league bout.
The Coalers now possess a 15-6 record. They play next when they host Joliet Catholic for a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 22. Coal City will play a Hilltoppers team coming off a 57-24 league loss to Marist (Chicago, IL). The Hilltoppers record now stands at 6-17.
With the loss, Wheaton Academy falls to 8-7 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to Bishop McNamara (Kankakee, IL) to play the Fightin' Irish in a Chicagoland Christian bout on Monday, January 20. The Fightin' Irish go into the bout with a record of 15-6. Bishop McNamara won 50-40 in their recent non-league bout against IC Catholic Prep (Elmhurst, IL)
