In Saturday's non-league contest, the host Hyannis Longhorns basketball team scored a close 41-35 triumph over the Sandhills Valley Mavericks.

The Longhorns (5-6) will now prepare for their contest against Morrill (Morrill, NE). The Lions go into the non-league contest with a 9-5 record. In their last contest, Morrill nipped Minatare (Minatare, NE), 42-22, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Mavericks battle the Sandhills/Thedford Knights (Dunning, NE) in a non-league contest, on Tuesday, January 21.
