January 19, 2024: Sumter, SC 29154 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the St. James Sharks (Murrells Inlet, SC) and the host Sumter Gamecocks (Sumter, SC), saw St. James's basketball squad overcome Sumter by a tally of 55-42.
With the victory, St. James improves its record to 16-1 on the campaign. The Sharks travel to Carolina Forest (Myrtle Beach, SC) to confront the Panthers in a AAAAA Region 5 challenge on Tuesday, January 23. The Panthers come into the challenge with a record of 4-12. Carolina Forest lost 48-39 in their recent league challenge against Socastee (Myrtle Beach, SC)
Next up, the Gamecocks confront the Conway Tigers (Conway, SC) in a AAAAA Region 5 challenge, on Tuesday, January 23. Sumter will attempt to improve on its 9-11 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 11-10 record after their 41-33 non-league win over Mullins (Mullins, SC).
