In Friday's league outing, the Mexia Black Cats (Mexia, TX) basketball squad nipped the visiting Franklin Lions (Franklin, TX), by a margin of 56-50.

The Black Cats (26-3) will now prepare for their match against Westwood (Palestine, TX). The Panthers enter the 3A Region III District 20 match with a 6-14 record. In their last match, Westwood was nipped by Teague (Teague, TX), 67-15, in a league match.
