The Cardinal Newman Cardinals basketball team scored 59 points and held the visiting Porter-Gaud Cyclones to 53 in the Cardinals non-league triumph on Monday.

The Cardinals now sport a 12-13 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Ben Lippen for a SCISA AAAA Region I contest on Wednesday, January 24. Cardinal Newman will meet a Falcons team coming off a 43-40 league loss to Hammond (Columbia, SC). The Falcons record now stands at 11-6.

The Cyclones (15-4) will now prepare for their contest against Northwood Academy (Charleston, SC). The Chargers enter the SCISA AAAA Region III contest with a 3-13 record. In their last contest, Northwood Academy was nudged by Hilton Head Prep (Hilton Head Island, SC), 60-36, in a non-league contest.
