In Wednesday's league contest, the host Jarrell Cougars basketball team scored a close 66-65 triumph over the Salado Eagles.

The Cougars (24-6) will now prepare for their contest against Taylor (Taylor, TX). The Ducks go into the 4A Region III District 24 contest with a 11-16 record. In their last contest, Taylor nipped Lampasas (Lampasas, TX), 55-17, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Eagles battle the Burnet Bulldogs (Burnet, TX) in a 4A Region III District 24 contest, on Friday, January 24. Salado will attempt to better on its 16-13 season record.
