Tennessee High School Basketball - Union County tops Grainger
January 24, 2023: Rutledge, TN 37861 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Union County Patriots (Maynardville, TN) and the host Grainger Grizzlies (Rutledge, TN), saw Union County's basketball squad knock off Grainger by a tally of 71-61.
With the victory, Union County improves its record to 7-7 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Alcoa (Alcoa, TN) to play the Tornadoes in a non-league challenge on Friday, January 27. The Tornadoes come into the challenge with a record of 11-6. Alcoa won 79-76 in their recent non-league challenge against Sevier County (Sevierville, TN)
Next up, the Grizzlies play the Cocke County Fighting Cocks (Newport, TN) in a 3A District 2 challenge, on Friday, January 27. Grainger will attempt to improve on its 10-9 season record. The Fighting Cocks come into the challenge with a 12-9 record after their 63-49 league win over Cherokee (Rogersville, TN).
