Kentucky High School Basketball - Nicholas County nips Powell County
January 25, 2023: Carlisle, KY 40311 Nicholas County Bluejackets (Carlisle, KY) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Powell County Pirates (Stanton, KY), 52-49 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Nicholas County upgrades its record to 5-7 on the season. The Bluejackets travel to Robertson County (Mt. Olivet, KY) to play the Black Devils in a District 38 bout on Friday, January 27. The Black Devils go into the bout with a record of 4-9.
Next up, the Pirates play the Estill County Engineers (Irvine, KY) in a District 56 bout, on Friday, January 27. Powell County will attempt to upgrade on its 7-8 season record. The Engineers go into the bout with a 9-12 record after their 44-26 non-league loss to Rockcastle County (Mt. Vernon, KY).
