Rhode Island High School Basketball - Smithfield holds off Cumberland
January 25, 2024: Cumberland, RI 02864 Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Smithfield Sentinels (Esmond, RI) and the host Cumberland Clippers (Cumberland, RI), saw Smithfield's basketball squad hold off Cumberland by a tally of 44-38.
With the victory, Smithfield improves its record to 2-4 on the campaign. The Sentinels travel to La Salle Academy (Providence, RI) to confront the Rams in a non-league challenge on Friday, January 26. The Rams come into the challenge with a record of 4-4. La Salle Academy lost 58-38 in their recent non-league challenge against North Kingstown (North Kingstown, RI)
Next up, the Clippers confront the Portsmouth Patriots (Portsmouth, RI) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, January 29. Cumberland will attempt to improve on its 2-6 season record. The Patriots come into the challenge with a 8-3 record after their 73-51 non-league win over East Providence (East Providence, RI).
