Watkins Glen Lake Hawks (Watkins Glen, NY) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Newark Valley Cardinals (Newark Valley, NY), 60-58 in a league bout.

With the victory, Watkins Glen upgrades its record to 6-8 on the campaign. The Lake Hawks travel to Notre Dame (Elmira, NY) to play the Crusaders in a Section 4 Interscholastic - South Large bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Crusaders come into the bout with a record of 2-5.

Next up, the Cardinals play the Lansing Bobcats (Lansing, NY) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Newark Valley will attempt to upgrade on its 3-4 season record.
