High School Basketball - Corpus Christi United nips JV Opponent
January 26, 2024: , Corpus Christi United Watchmen (Corpus Christi, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host JV Opponent (, ), 42-39 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Corpus Christi United upgrades its record to 8-2 on the season. The Watchmen travel to Annapolis Christian Academy (Corpus Christi, TX) to play the Warriors in a non-league bout on Tuesday, February 6. The Warriors go into the bout with a record of 0-0.

Bolt JV, 42-39, on Friday. Watchmen JV took the lead for good on a free throw by Ben Lopez after a close game that featured eight lead changes.Trailing 1-0, Watchmen JV went on an
8-point run to take the lead. Trailing 24-18, Watchmen JV went on a 10-2 run to take the lead. Watchmen JV trailed 24-18 at halftime before coming back for the victory. The third quarter was the best for Watchmen JV as they outscored Ben Bolt JV 17-8. Watchmen United JV had six assists in the quarter. Lopez was the leading scorer for Watchmen JV with 19 points. Brett Bouma made six of 12 free throws, and Watchmen JV attempted 27. Watchmen JV played stifling defense, blocking six shots and grabbing 18 steals. Watchmen JV passed the ball well with 12 assists on 14 made baskets. Bouma led the team with five assists. Peter Paulson collected 8 rebounds to lead Watchmen JV. Bouma (8 points), Paulson (7 points), Josiah Guzman (5 points), and Samuel Macias (3 points).
