Pennsylvania High School Basketball - Belle Vernon holds off Southmoreland
January 27, 2023: Belle Vernon, PA 15012 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Belle Vernon Leopards (Belle Vernon, PA) and the visiting Southmoreland Scotties (Alverton, PA), saw Belle Vernon's basketball squad hold off Southmoreland by a tally of 59-52.
With the victory, Belle Vernon improves its record to 7-6 on the campaign. The Leopards travel to Franklin Regional (Murrysville, PA) to confront the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Saturday, January 28. The Panthers come into the challenge with a record of 11-8. Franklin Regional lost 55-40 in their recent league challenge against Penn-Trafford (Harrison City, PA)
Next up, the Scotties confront the Elizabeth Forward Warriors (Elizabeth, PA) in a WPIAL 4A 3 challenge, on Tuesday, January 31. Southmoreland will attempt to improve on its 12-6 season record. The Warriors come into the challenge with a 4-14 record after their 77-45 league loss to Laurel Highlands (Uniontown, PA).
